How do you start a canvas drawing?

I am not sure about you but there are times when I wish to begin drawing but have no clue what to draw. There have been many times in my life that I have started a canvas and simply painted everything out in a color (usually black) because my mind could not come up with anything to draw. This is the worst thing to do when you are trying to create something that you want people to look at.

So how do you start a canvas drawing? The first thing that you need to do is go through your hard drive and print out some pictures that you like. You can also go through some of your old sketch books and see if any images come to mind. Once you have several images printed out, take them with you to a craft store. How do you transfer a sketch to a canvas?
